N ew Delhi: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna have addressed a joint press conference after holding strategic talks in Delhi.
While addressing the press conference Hillary Clinton said that terrorists’ groups are still operating in Pakistan and Pakistan has not done as much as the US wants it to do to fight terrorism.
Hillary Clinton said in her media address that Pakistan should ensure its territories are not used as launching pad by terror groups for attacks both within and outside the country.
“Terrorists are killing innocent people,” she added.
In a reference to JUD chief Hafiz Saeed, Hillary Clinton said that the US has announced a USD 10 million bounty on the man who masterminded the Mumbai attack.
She further said that 10 million award for info that leads to arrest of Hafiz Saaed shows our commitment to fight terrorism.
“We are committed to going after those who pursue direct threats to US, Afghanistan and our allies inAfghanistan,” she said.
Hillary Clinton further said in her media address that, “The US hopes to see continuing progress in India reducing Iranian oil imports. The US will continue to do everything to prevent terrorists from carrying out evil acts of violence.”
Addressing the media, SM Krishna said, “India conveys to US its concern over difficulties in mobility of professionals from its IT companies and protectionist sentiments there India wants elimination of terrorist sanctuaries in the neighborhood and Pakistan to take necessary steps.”
S.M. Krishna also said that we discussed that Iran has rights as member of NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) but must also abide by its obligations as non-nuclear weapon state under the NPT.
Krishna also said that during Clinton’s visit ties with Pakistan were also discussed.
