I slamabad: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that he has the right to appeal and no one can step him down as Prime Minister of Pakistan till the detailed decision comes.
While talking to media Gilani said that “I have the right to appeal and if appeal gets rejected then the reference can be sent to Speaker and if she declares me illegal then I will step down as the Prime Minister.”
He further said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) always conforms to the constitution.
“No one can can run strong and bigger movement than Pakistan Peoples Party,” said PM Gilani.
He further said that obeying the orders of Supreme Court he will held local government elections.
“Supreme Court ordered to hold local government elections in all the four provinces; the order was disobeyed by the provinces but I will abide by the order and will hold local government elections,” he said.
He also said that only Speaker presides the proceedings of the House and Chaudhry Nisar has no right to call me illegal.
Talking about Nawaz Sharif he said that Nawaz Sharif had been imprisoned for nine years and he continued denying signing any deal.
On PML-N demand that he (Gilani) should resign after being sentenced by the Supreme Court in contempt of court case, he said “I am a public representative and will not come or leave office on whims of Sharif courts. Why PML-N is in a hurry and not in a mood even to wait for detailed judgment of the apex court and exercise his right of appeal.”
“PPP did not criticize PML-N when its top leadership took a long flight to Jeddah from Adiala prison but questioned that under which court order they did so.”
He further cited the penalty imposed on US President Clinton and said that Clinton also continued to work as President and did not resign even after the anouncement of the said punishment.
