Q uetta: Abducted health manager of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), Dr Khalil Rasjad’s body has been recovered from Killi Umer area near Quetta.
According to the reports the dead body was recovered here on Sunday.
Police found the dead body in a bag with a letter in pocket which states that the deceased body is of Dr. Khalil Rasjad. ICRC spokesperson Mr Najam-ul-Saqib Iqbal, while talking with saach.tv has confirmed the death of a 60 years old health programme manager Dr Khalil Asjad.
The head of the ICRC, Yves Daccord, condemned his killing as a “barbaric act,” and said staff of the international agency were “devastated.”
British Foreign Secretary William Hague said the killing was “a senseless and cruel act, targeting someone whose role was to help the people of Pakistan, and causing immeasurable pain to those who knew Mr. Kahlil.”
Dr. Khalil Rasjad was the representative of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and kidnapped four months back from Quetta.
The letter also stated that the demands are not met therefore Dr Khalil was slaughtered. Kidnappers said in the letter that ‘video’ of Dr Khalil being slaughter will be release to media soon.
Speaking with saach.tv, Mr Najam, the spokesperson of ICRC Pakistan, said that our team in Balochistan confirmed that the dead body was of Dr Kahlil.
He also said that ICRC was aware of Dr Khalil’s abduction and through different connections they were in contact with kidnappers. When asked about the demands of kidnappers he refused to answer saying ‘I cannot disclose this information as it is a very sensitive matter.” he also refused to mark the identities of those who kidnapped Dr Khalil four months back.
In response to the question that what impact this murder will likely to cause on ICRC presence in Pakistan he said “Following the kidnap of Dr Khalil we turned our presence in Balochistan at its low, however, our future plan will come after the complete analysis of situation.”
Dr khalil Asjad is originally from Yemen having a British passport. He was abducted on 5th jan 2012 from Smungli housing scheme near ICRC office in Balochistan.
