I slamabad: Minister for Information & Technology, Raja Pervez Ashraf in RPPs case, appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation team.
The investigations went for more than three hours. His statement was also recorded during examination.
Today NAB’s investigation team summoned more than six accused persons in the said case who participated in the proceedings.
The NAB has recovered Rs 600 million in shape of pay orders and Rs 225 million in shape of post paid cheques on 27 April 2012. CEOs of some RPPs appeared before the investigation team and handed over these pay orders and cheques.
Senior officials of PEPCO and WAPDA and MDs of PPIB and GENCO were also examined in the case and recorded their statements.
NAB would complete its reconciliation exercise in coming week where it would scrutinize the collected evidence and other relevant material. After this exercise the accused persons required for further examination would be summoned.
The NAB has completed its inquiry in a railways case relating with the purchase of spare parts for 69 Chinese locomotives and the findings along with its recommendations would be placed before the next Executive Board Meeting for decision.
The NAB’s inquiry unearthed that 85% of total purchased spare parts in the case are lying unutilized. In another railway inquiry relating with Royal Palm Golf Club, NAB has secured Rs 7-8 billion (approx) by facilitating the parties to revisit the lease agreement in phase-I while in phase-II where an international level hotel has to be built by the party to the agreement NAB has secured Rs 5-6 billion (approx) for railways in the remaining lease period.
