Excellent Interview. You made an excellent point in the policy about rural empowerment, I think the policy requires more work. The point about big business backing Imran as a concern is also valid. However, it is the big business that brings prosperity to any nation. It remains to be seen how Imran manages to obtain more taxes from the top 20-30 percent as we all know business hates taxes.
Talat I think you missed one point in the rural empowerment policy. You were supposing that different casts will be pitted in the village against each other for elections. The policy however says that candidates of village may not fight election against each other. They will announce candidacy and whoever gets top votes will be chairman, second most votes vice chairman and so on till the top 7 or 10 makes the council. By this method we can have representatives of all different casts in the same council. Imran was unable to make this point in the discussion. He was not at his sharpest today.
but see those candidates would be fighting for top most votes among each other, its one and the same.
good interview. tough time is good thing. but I wonder, Imran give reasons for militancy in Afghanistan, but militancy in Kashmir is un-acceptable for him. while both are fighting for Independence(according to militants).
Nice Interview….You were so true in your question of rural empowerment, Villages do not have one cast system, you are true a lot of casts and baradaris live in the same village and the one with more land is more powerfull. Imran Khan is trying to compare everything with the only constituency experience he has i.e Mianwali where they have one cast based villages ( but to add they have mainly one cast and then a lot of working class casts in same village). And also the culture of Mianwali and villages is very different from other punjab areas like central pubjab, potohar etc. In these areas we have villages and multicasts, in my own village we have like every cast i would say. Imran Khan needs to think more on the idea of actual implementation. I would like to add that your idea of land distribution is prety good and it would work in Sidh some areas of punjab, baluchistan. But i would say there are areas specially in punjab where every cast owns land either more or less , so land is not their problem so power distribution would need other factors to be considered.
