I slamabad: Former ISI Col (Retd) Akbar, who claims to be the eye witness of disbursement of cash to several politicians during general elections of 1990, has disclosed that politicians were funded.
In an interview Col Akbar claimed that Brig. Saeed was the man tasked with the responsibility of disbursing money among Sindh politicians. Brig. Saeed was then associated with Military Intelligence.
Col Akbar has also claimed to been present on several occasions when money was being handed over to the politicians. “Saeed used to handle all the bank accounts (used in the money disbursement),” said Col. Akbar.
“I was present on the occasion when cash was handed over to Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi in Karachi,” he added.
He further claimed that Pir Sahab Pagara was paid in Kingri House, Karachi and signature was taken from him.
Col Akbar said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain was also offered money but he refused to accept it.
The statement from the self-proclaimed eyewitness comes at a time when the Asghar Khan case hearing is underway in Supreme Court.
