I slamabad: The Supreme Court, while hearing the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case, has directed Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to write a letter to Swiss authorities without seeking legal advice.

Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq was directed Thursday to convey the directives of the Supreme Court to the premier “immediately”.

The prime minister has been directed to submit a reply in the court by March 21, 2012, after writing the letter.

The SC ordered that PM should submit the written reply till March 19 and if the reply was not submitted, then the premier will have to appear before the court on March 21.

A seven-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk is hearing the case.

Prime Minister Gilani was served a contempt notice in the NRO implementation case when the government did not follow the court’s orders of writing a letter to the Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
